The Level Requirement Jumped From 10 to 45
The most impactful change is the gathering level requirement. Before the patch, any character at level 10 could gather. After October 28, that threshold jumped all the way to 45.
This hits gathering alts hardest. Players who maintained low-level characters purely to feed materials to a main character now find those alts completely locked out. A level-35 alt that gathered yesterday needs to reach 45 before it can gather again—and the same applies to every alt between level 10 and 44.
Waiting for the daily reset won't fix this. The level requirement is a hard gate, not a temporary cooldown.
The Daily Cap: 1,000 Actions Per Server
For characters already at level 45, there's a second layer to check. The update introduced a daily limit of 1,000 gathering actions per server, resetting at 12:00 AM PDT / 8:00 AM CET under the announced schedule.
A few important caveats here:
The allowance counts gathering activity, not materials collected. You won't necessarily walk away with 1,000 resources.
NC has stated the number may be adjusted in the future.
The patch notes don't clarify whether failed attempts consume the allowance, or exactly how multiple characters share the counter.
Don't assume every alt gets its own 1,000 actions—and don't assume all players on a server compete for one communal pool either.
If a warning explicitly tells you that you've hit the limit, plan another activity until reset. If gathering stays blocked after reset, save your before-and-after messages and timestamps for a support ticket.
Gathering Works but Market Listings Fail? That's a Different Problem
Some players can gather fine but can't list materials on the Market. This is a separate issue from the gathering cap. An error mentioning insufficient gameplay record or history points to the gathered-material listing restriction that began on October 14 and was adjusted on October 21.
The gathering reset does not reset this restriction. No universal unlock checklist has been published, and a subscription change isn't a confirmed fix. Test a small tradable stack first, and if the error persists, report the exact wording, item, trading status, character, server and time to support.
Rethinking Your Gathering Strategy
For players running low-level gathering alts, the math has changed. Ask yourself whether you actually want to play that character at 45. If yes, prioritize leveling before investing further in its gathering role. If the alt exists purely to supply materials, pause that investment until you've weighed the leveling effort against your real crafting needs.
For level-45 gatherers, track your session honestly. Tally successful and failed attempts separately, and note any displayed remaining allowance before and after. If the client doesn't show a counter, don't assume your tally matches the hidden one. Record any explicit cap warning—it's useful evidence if you need to contact support.
A Practical Alternative: Skip the Grind Entirely
Between the level 45 gate and the daily action cap, gathering has become far less efficient for players who rely on materials to fund crafting or market sales. Leveling multiple alts to 45 just to gather is a significant time investment—and even then, the shared daily allowance limits how much you can collect.
